Communications & Social Media Coordinator

The Communications & Social Media Coordinator is responsible for managing league-wide communications and promoting SoCal through consistent, clear, and positive messaging. This role helps keep families informed, supports league operations, and builds community engagement by sharing timely updates and highlights throughout the season.

This position works closely with the executive board and other coordinators to ensure information is accurate, consistent, and shared in a timely manner.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • League Communications
    • Serve as the primary point person for league-wide communications to families, coaches, and volunteers
    • Draft, schedule, and send league announcements, reminders, and updates as requested by the executive board
    • Ensure messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with SoCal policies and values
    • Forward time-sensitive or issue-specific communications to the appropriate coordinator or board member when needed
  • Social Media Management
    • Manage SoCal’s social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, or other platforms used by the league)
    • Create and post engaging content, including:
      • Registration reminders
      • Season start/end announcements
      • Evaluation information
      • League events and important dates
      • Player, team, or community highlights (as appropriate)
      • Monitor messages and comments and respond or forward inquiries as needed
  • Collaboration & Content Support
    • Work with Age Group Coordinators, Equipment Manager, Casino Coordinator, and other volunteers to share relevant updates and deadlines
    • Support registration, evaluations, and special events by promoting key information through approved communication channels
    • Assist with promoting league initiatives, fundraising efforts, and volunteer recruitment
  • Branding & Consistency
    • Maintain a consistent SoCal voice and branding across all communications and social media platforms
    • Use provided templates where applicable and help update or refine templates as needed
    • Ensure content shared is appropriate for a youth sports organization
  • Season & Board Support
    • Provide communications support throughout the season, with increased activity during registration, evaluations, and season launch
    • Attend board meetings, as required (~2/season).
