STATEMENT FROM CMBA REGARDING COVID-19 AND FALL REGISTRATION
“We appreciate the patience of our CMBA families during these challenging times. We are eager to get our members back into gyms and playing basketball; however this will be done in accordance with guidelines established by Alberta Health and as announced by the Chief Medical Officer of Health in order to protect the health of our players, coaches and families.
At this time, we are looking to the City of Calgary for direction on when a return to gyms might be expected. We are hoping that the City will confirm this for the CMBA and its member Zones around July 1, 2020.
In the event that we are permitted to return to gyms and offer a fall season of basketball, we are also working with our member Zones on ways to potentially offer early registration so that member Zones can organize their teams as quickly as possible.
We will continue to keep our CMBA member Zones informed of changes to this situation as information becomes available." Thank you, Calgary Minor Basketball Association
IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Normally this is the time of year that we would be registering our children for another exciting year of basketball. This year however, looks significantly different. There is a substantial amount of uncertainty surrounding sports programs this fall. Registration in years past has opened on May 1st, with early bird registration running through May and June.
We are hopeful that the season will proceed as normal, but in light of this uncertainty, we have made the decision to postpone registration until we have more concrete answers. We feel this is a better way forward rather than collect registrations and have to return them, if the season is cancelled or modified. If the season does proceed as normal, we will offer early bird pricing through the entirety of our shortened registration period.
