Role Summary
The VP of Girls Basketball for SoCal provides strategic and operational leadership for the entire girls basketball program and serves as a member of the SoCal Board. This role oversees all aspects of program development, coordination, and execution, ensuring alignment across age groups, coaches, coordinators, and league stakeholders. The VP acts as the primary point of accountability for program quality, staffing, tryouts, evaluations, and issue resolution, while supporting Age Group Coordinators and working cross-functionally with registration and CMBA leadership.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee the girls basketball program within SoCal, ensuring consistency, fairness, and alignment across teams and age groups

Participate in SoCal leadership and board-level discussions, providing insight into boys program operations, needs, and improvements

Support, guide, and advise Age Group Coordinators, particularly during evaluations, team formation, and coach assignment

Plan and manage the annual tryout and evaluation process, including early gym bookings, evaluator recruitment, and session structure

Ensure sufficient, knowledgeable evaluators and volunteers are in place to conduct objective and well-run evaluations

Maintain oversight of evaluation integrity, including minimizing conflicts of interest and ensuring consistent standards across sessions

Work closely with Registration to manage player numbers, session assignments, and roster accuracy throughout evaluations

Act as the primary escalation point for player, parent, coach, or team-related concerns when they cannot be resolved at the age-group level

Assist with discipline, conduct, and compliance matters in coordination with CMBA and SoCal leadership as required

Oversee team formation, coach identification, and competitive ordering of teams for appropriate league placement

Promote clear communication, transparency, and trust in the evaluation and team selection process

Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the girls basketball program across all levels
